Cora The Explorer

One day this week Cora discovered life exists beyond the family room and kitchen.  Unfortunately, she realized life as she knows it is now "fenced"

On the same day, we decided that Cora was sitting up well enough to enjoy a bath with her big brother.  I'm not sure if she loved the new tub, Connor or the fact that his bathtub has toys more. . .

Cora also discovered that Connor is able to hold her and feed her a bottle.  Such a great big brother!
Connor said he wanted to feed her the entire 8 oz bottle.  I said, "ok, just let me know if you want to switch"  About 2 seconds after I finished my photo op, he was ready to "take a break"  haha.

Back In Baltimore

Colin and I were lucky enough to fly back to Baltimore last weekend for a friend's wedding.  We have been looking forward to this wedding weekend since the proposal and it did not disappoint.  I really took no pictures at the wedding - guess we were having too much fun!  Here is a quick snapshot of the reception venue - it got even more gorgeous once the sun set.

The groom is a guy Colin used to work with in Baltimore.  At the rehearsal dinner we discovered that Chip, the groom, and one of my besties, Catherine have several mutual friends.  Birmingham-to Tampa-to Baltimore and Boston and back.  Small World.

The bride and groom are fairly hilarious individuals so I was sure the wedding would involve some humor.  The maid of honor speeches were so sweet and funny.  A top 10 list of emails the bride sent to her best friend about the groom.  Crying-Laughing.

When we weren't attending the wedding festivities, we were busy scooting around Baltimore to see as many friends as possible.  We had happy hour with Jani and Greg on Friday and drinks with Neal and Gina after dinner.  Another random photo Neal at the Stalking Horse

Saturday Mary "scooped me" (her words not mine) and we went to brunch and Duesenberg's Cafe.  The food there is sooooo delicious.  And I never went there before we moved away.  Unbelievable!  The food may be superb but the customers . . . well, there were some characters that morning.  No pictures.

Then I met up with Caitlin and we left (sans kiddos) to go drop of some dry cleaning and consignment clothes and ended up on a bus.
On a recommendation from a friend, Caitlin and I headed up to Hampden to find this Clothes Bus called the Go-Go Retread Threads (I think).  It was really amazing (although the legality of it may be at issue) - but since I'm "retired".  It was so fun!

Inside the bus
Not just Clothes, but Accessories

and Shoes
I bought a really cute (to me) gray bag and Caitlin purchased one of everything (well, almost)

We finished up our shopping trip at Studio C.  Fitting for us C girls.  They have handmade vintage tin  jewelry and we loved it all.

Sunday, after sleeping in (a little) we met up with Colin's mom and step-dad for brunch at our favorite, Eggspectations.  Kevin, Leslie, Daniel and Joshua were sweet enough to drive up and see us too!

Colin and his godson, Daniel
We didn't get to see everyone this trip.  Next time.  See you in June!

Easter 2012

I may or may not have gotten a little carried away on Pinterest.  There are just so many cute ideas and I wanted to try a few this Easter.  First we attempted Multi-Colored Jell-O Easter Eggs from here.  I was able to get a free egg mold from Kraft.  Ours turned out ok.  We ended up making 6 eggs and a Jell-O Pie.  They tasted delicious but took about 3 hours to make.

Colin and his Dad attended The Masters on Saturday so the kids and I went to the Club Easter Egg Hunt. Connor and Cora enjoyed the day.

The Giant Easter Bunny
We were lucky and ran into Jennie, Ingram and their not so baby girl Scarlett.  Precious!
I was trying to get a good Easter picture but I guess the sun was too bright for their eyes.

Then we made Resurrection Rolls.  Yum!  Connor really enjoyed this activity.

On Easter, Colin was back and after Church I wanted to try again (with more help).  As you can tell "more help" didn't help.

Afterwards we went to visit Nina.  She is doing really well considering the surgery.  Happy Easter!

A Skinny Green Monster in a Jungle of Pink Slime

2 reasons why I am still a vegetarian after almost 20 years

NĂºmero UNO

Skinny Green Monster
Y'all I think this is so delicious! Colin and my mom don't agree but Connor likes it. I originally tried it out because I had way too much spinach (read: Colin went grocery shopping). I am going to buy more spinach this week to make more monsters. Yummy. The website they live at is such a great resource. I use recipes from Skinny Taste every week.

Number 2
The reports of
Pink Slime

Just when I have thoughts that I might one day eat meat again a story like The Jungle reminds me to think again. The recent reports of pink slime make me wonder why anyone eats meat. I mean it's practically The Jungle by Upton Sinclair all over again.
I can't post a picture of pink slime because it just horrifies me.

8 months

Cora is 8 months old today. This girl loves her some food. She constantly amazes everyone at her ability to put away food. Cora loves to army crawl, sit up (and spit up), pull up on short toys, and cruise with supervision. She nearly crawled correctly today but then gave up and tried to stand. really? Her hair is getting lighter every day. It is blond on one side and reddish brown up top and down the other side. She talks all the time. Especially if she thinks food is coming, Connor is nearby or the cats make an appearance. She has a second tooth that has just pushed through on the bottom. She knows her name and will turn to look at you if you call her by name. She also knows what "hands up" means in relation to dinner and her eat seat. She also knows the word eat (see above). Here are her 8 month pics

You can definitely see her 1st tooth but second one is still too small to see
