No more spoons

According to the boss, Miss C

Now, time for eliminating the bottle. First attempt was today after nap. She preferred no milk to either of the 3 sippy cups. Try again tomorrow.
Bath time.

10 Months

Cora is 10 Months Old.  We celebrated by going to the beach with Mike, Mary and Madelyn.

Cora has put on some pounds since her 9 Month appointment (which was at 9 1/2 months!).  So in just 2 weeks she is visibly bigger.  She doesn't refuse any food and I switched her over to formula.  She isn't really eating any more than she was 2 weeks before but she sure is bigger! She is cruising on pretty much everything and stood alone several times.  She had spinach/feta pizza this week and cheesy chicken and rice.  She will let me feed her with a spoon as long as I pay attention to her the entire time and don't stop shoveling food.  She honestly prefers to feed herself, but she hasn't gotten the concept of small portions at a time.  Plus, some of the food she loves is super messy.  So, she gets a combo.

She is definitely saying dada now.  She cracked us up chatting to Maddie all weekend.  She is in a size 2 diaper but I'm only buying size 3 after this box is gone.  Who knew she would hit such a growth spurt?  She can wear anything from 6-12 months in clothes.  Oh and she and her big brother slept in the same room (for the first time) this weekend.  It was a super success!!  Connor was actually excited about it.  He said "It will be like Ben and Nick" (our friends from Baltimore that share a room).  He wanted her to sleep in his room at home too.  Bless him!  Such a sweet brother.  This is good news for us and our upcoming trips to Baltimore and MB.

So about the beach!  What a fun trip!  I know this sounds completely crazy but this was the most relaxing beach vacation we have taken since Connor was born.  I think there are a couple of reasons this was the case.  1.  Colin came with us and didn't work the entire time and 2.  Cora loves the sand!

Finally Friday Frames

A few years ago right after we moved to Birmingham, I bought a cool frame at a local art show. It took awhile to fill it but with my moms help I found the perfect photos.

Top - The Moorhouse Brothers (Scott and Bryan)

Middle - Connor

Bottom- The Davis Brothers (Alan and Jim)

So when we found out we were expecting a girl I was so excited but I had already been thinking about a Connor and brother photo replacing the middle picture one day.

Then during a visit to Birmingham, Colin's aunt Jan suggested a girls frame. It was truly a "how did I not think of that?" moment. I have these moments all.the.time. Especially after a fun filled Friday night watching Shark Tank. Anyway, a year later, and for half the price of the first frame

Top- the Getz sisters (Jan & Pat)

Middle - Cora

Bottom- the Teal sisters (Cathy & Jo)

Claire on the Clarinet

Last Saturday, my mom and dad took Connor on an adventure.  It started at Cafe Iz, where Connor sampled Chicken Salad, Egg Salad and Pimento Cheese (if you know me you understand how this is right up there with corn dogs on my list of do.not.eat.ever).  He loved all of them, but expressed a particular fondness for the chicken salad with apples in it.  I guess I would rather he eat everything than be super picky.  After lunch, Connor got to visit with Nina and play in JoJo's basement (which has more toys than our house).  In the afternoon, Connor got a very special treat.  He went to see the Alabama Youth Symphony.  Our cousin Claire was performing and Connor loves Claire and the symphony!  Claire is moving to Chicago later this summer.  We will miss her!

The adventure concluded at MugShots (delicious burgers - even veggie ones!).  Spoiled!  He loved every minute of it.
