Wedding Weekend Part 1 - Thursday & Friday

Last Thursday, we packed up ourselves and the kids and hopped on a plane up to Baltimore for our friend Kevin's wedding. The wedding reception was at a cool rooftop lounge downtown overlooking the Inner Harbor. We decided to stay at the hotel to make our lives a little simpler. We also decided to take the light rail from the airport so that we could avoid the dreaded 2 car seat haul (plus our kids and our stuff). I thought it was a brilliant idea. Of course, it was my idea . . . Colin wasn't loving the idea so much when he was pulling the bags 2 blocks from the station to the hotel. But honestly, it was 2 blocks and $2.20 to ride the light rail (total). Compared to renting a car, paying $30/night to keep the car in the parking deck all weekend, etc. I suppose a cab ride was another option - but if you know Colin you know that installing a car seat is pretty much pure torture (for him and for me to watch). I usually end up installing the car seats and then I am a soaking wet smelly mess. So, the light rail was a great idea, right? Anyway, now that I have justified the 2 block walk. Colin went off the the rehearsal and I stayed and got the kids dinner and ready for bed. Caitlin's sweet friend Vanessa came to sit with the kids while I headed out to the Rehearsal Dinner. We enjoyed delicious Italian food at Chiapparellis and then off to Looney's Pub for a nightcap. Bob, Billy, Colin & Mike

Friday we ate a hotel breakfast and then hurried to get ready to meet Auntie Cait and kids. Baltimore pretty much as different events going on every week all summer long. This past weekend was Sailabration. Fun for the kids and one bazillion people to enjoy it along with us. Connor Josh Will Cora  Jenna

After a morning in the Harbor, we met up with Colin's dad and stepmom for a nice stroll to lunch at Little Havana. It was about a mile walk to get there - but so worth it! Colin was off the the wedding and I got ready for naps and the reception. This (I think) is the first time I didn't actually go to the wedding, but did attend the reception. The wedding was at 3 pm in Canton and I just didn't have the ability to get there without kids and back and get them fed, bathed, etc. Just wasn't going to work. I barely got ready on time as it was. Cora was more out of sorts than she ever has been (that I remember) and it was because she is getting 3 top teeth all at once. She just wanted a bottle and bed. Luckily Mary arrived after work to play with them and I snuck off to the reception upstairs at the penthouse lounge, Pisces.

So now the wedding photos . . . With the Wedding Crasher ("Jammer") - Can't make this up. My Favorite Picture - Check out the reactions of all the people along the window!

Happy Father's Day!

We are back in Birmingham for Father's Day. More on our Baltimore adventures this week. For now, check out Connor's thoughts on his Daddy and a cute pic of a great dad with his kids today My favorite response was Daddy always tells me to "watch out for Cora!" Followed closely by I love my Daddy because "he lets me play with his phone sometimes"

No more spoons

According to the boss, Miss C

Now, time for eliminating the bottle. First attempt was today after nap. She preferred no milk to either of the 3 sippy cups. Try again tomorrow.
Bath time.

10 Months

Cora is 10 Months Old.  We celebrated by going to the beach with Mike, Mary and Madelyn.

Cora has put on some pounds since her 9 Month appointment (which was at 9 1/2 months!).  So in just 2 weeks she is visibly bigger.  She doesn't refuse any food and I switched her over to formula.  She isn't really eating any more than she was 2 weeks before but she sure is bigger! She is cruising on pretty much everything and stood alone several times.  She had spinach/feta pizza this week and cheesy chicken and rice.  She will let me feed her with a spoon as long as I pay attention to her the entire time and don't stop shoveling food.  She honestly prefers to feed herself, but she hasn't gotten the concept of small portions at a time.  Plus, some of the food she loves is super messy.  So, she gets a combo.

She is definitely saying dada now.  She cracked us up chatting to Maddie all weekend.  She is in a size 2 diaper but I'm only buying size 3 after this box is gone.  Who knew she would hit such a growth spurt?  She can wear anything from 6-12 months in clothes.  Oh and she and her big brother slept in the same room (for the first time) this weekend.  It was a super success!!  Connor was actually excited about it.  He said "It will be like Ben and Nick" (our friends from Baltimore that share a room).  He wanted her to sleep in his room at home too.  Bless him!  Such a sweet brother.  This is good news for us and our upcoming trips to Baltimore and MB.

So about the beach!  What a fun trip!  I know this sounds completely crazy but this was the most relaxing beach vacation we have taken since Connor was born.  I think there are a couple of reasons this was the case.  1.  Colin came with us and didn't work the entire time and 2.  Cora loves the sand!
